Pricing & Billing

How much does ScopeTakeoff cost?+
ScopeTakeoff is $100 per person per month. Every plan includes all 10+ trade assembly libraries, PDF plan takeoff, unlimited projects, and SOV and proposal export. There is no annual contract, no setup fee, and no implementation process. A 14-day free trial is available with no credit card required.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes. ScopeTakeoff offers a 14-day free trial with full access to every feature and all trade assembly libraries. No credit card required to start. After 14 days your plan is $100 per person per month — cancel anytime before the trial ends and you won’t be charged.
Do I have to pay annually or can I go month to month?+
Month to month only. There is no annual contract, no lock-in, and no cancellation fee. You can cancel at any time from your account settings and you’ll never be charged again. We don’t believe in trapping contractors in annual contracts — if the software isn’t working for you, you should be able to leave.
What’s included in every plan?+
Every plan at every seat count includes: all 10+ trade-specific assembly libraries, PDF plan takeoff, unlimited projects and estimates, SOV export formatted for GC submission, client-facing proposal export, and email support. The Team plan (2–5 seats) additionally includes bid review workflow and multi-entity profiles for contractors with multiple licensed entities.
Does every trade cost extra?+
No. All trade assembly libraries are included at every plan at no additional cost. A concrete sub who also does masonry pays the same $100/person/month as a single-trade contractor. Painting and drywall subs get both trades in one subscription. There are no trade add-ons and no per-trade upgrades.
Can I add more seats as my team grows?+
Yes. The Team plan supports 2–5 estimator seats at $100 per person per month. If you need more than 5 seats, contact us at support@scopetakeoff.com and we’ll set up a custom arrangement. Adding seats is prorated for the current billing period.
How do I cancel?+
Cancel any time from your account settings — no phone call required, no cancellation fee. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. All your projects and estimates are available to export before cancellation.

Getting Started

How do I get started?+
Go to app.scopetakeoff.com/signup, create an account, and start estimating. No sales call, no onboarding session, no implementation process. The assembly libraries for your trade are pre-built — select your scope, enter your quantities, and you’ll have a priced estimate in minutes. The 14-day free trial gives you full access from day one.
Do I need to set up my own assemblies?+
No. Every trade assembly library comes pre-built. Concrete has flatwork, footings, walls, rebar, and forming already loaded. Drywall has board count, metal framing, Level 1–5 finishing, and texture. Painting has interior walls, ceilings, trim, exterior, and commercial coatings. You can customize unit costs to match your market and save your own assembly variants — but there’s nothing to build from scratch before you can start estimating.
How long does it take to build my first estimate?+
Most contractors build their first complete estimate within the first hour of signing up. Select your trade, choose your assemblies, enter quantities from your site measurements or plan takeoff, apply your markup, and export. The process is designed around how trade contractors actually estimate — not how a software company thinks they should.
Can I import my existing Excel estimates?+
You can manually enter your saved unit costs and labor rates into ScopeTakeoff’s assembly libraries during setup. Direct Excel import is not currently supported — but most contractors find it faster to enter their rates once into ScopeTakeoff and use the pre-built assemblies going forward than to maintain Excel templates. If you have a large cost database to migrate, contact support@scopetakeoff.com and we can help.
Is ScopeTakeoff web-based or do I need to install software?+
ScopeTakeoff is fully web-based — no installation required. It works on any modern browser on Windows, Mac, or tablet. Your estimates are saved automatically and accessible from any device. There is no desktop application to install or update.
Can multiple estimators work on the same account?+
Yes. The Team plan (2–5 seats) supports multiple estimators with a bid review workflow — estimates can be flagged for review before submission. Each estimator has their own login and the account owner can see all projects and estimates across the team. Multi-entity profiles let contractors with multiple licensed entities (e.g. FCG and BR Concrete) manage both from one account.

Features & Trades

What trades does ScopeTakeoff support?+
ScopeTakeoff currently includes purpose-built assembly libraries for: concrete, masonry, drywall, painting, HVAC, flooring, remodeling, landscape, asphalt, and roofing. Plumbing and electrical are in development. Every trade library is included at every plan at no additional cost. Visit scopetakeoff.com/trade-estimating-software to browse all supported trades.
What does “trade-specific assemblies” mean?+
Trade-specific assemblies are pre-built estimating templates for the specific scopes your trade covers — not generic line items that apply to every trade. For a concrete contractor, that means a slab-on-grade assembly that automatically calculates cubic yards from SF and depth, a rebar assembly that calculates weight from bar size and spacing, and a forming assembly priced per SFCA. For a drywall contractor, it means a board count assembly that deducts for openings, a Level 4 finish assembly with separate tape, mud, and sand rates, and a fire-rated assembly with proper labor factors. You enter quantities — the assembly handles the math.
Does ScopeTakeoff do PDF plan takeoff?+
Yes. PDF plan takeoff is included at every plan. Upload a PDF drawing, calibrate the scale, and measure areas, lengths, and counts directly on the page. Measured quantities flow automatically into your estimate assemblies. Works for commercial plan sets, residential floor plans, and site drawings.
What does the SOV output look like?+
The Schedule of Values export is formatted for commercial GC submission — line items organized by scope and trade, with unit prices, quantities, and extended totals. It matches the format most GC procurement teams expect from subcontractors. The client-facing proposal is a separate export formatted for homeowners and residential clients with a cleaner, less technical presentation. Both come from the same estimate with one click.
Can I use ScopeTakeoff for both residential and commercial work?+
Yes. ScopeTakeoff works for both. Residential jobs use the client-facing proposal format — organized by room or scope, easy for homeowners to read and approve. Commercial jobs use the SOV format for GC submission. Both outputs come from the same estimate. For commercial TI work specifically, the SOV is formatted to match standard GC procurement requirements.
Can I estimate multiple trades on the same project?+
Yes. All trade libraries are accessible within the same project. A painting and drywall subcontractor can estimate both scopes in one project and produce a single combined SOV or separate proposals per trade. A concrete and masonry sub can do the same. There’s no need to switch platforms or create separate projects per trade.
Can I customize the unit costs and labor rates?+
Yes. Every assembly comes with pre-loaded unit costs that you can override at any time. Set your own material costs, labor rates, equipment rates, and subcontractor costs. Save your customized rates as defaults so every new estimate starts from your actual pricing. Update a rate once and it applies across all assemblies that use it.
Does ScopeTakeoff work for HVAC flat rate pricing?+
Yes. HVAC contractors can build a flat rate price book in ScopeTakeoff — save flat rate assemblies for common service tasks like equipment replacements, diagnostic calls, refrigerant charges, and PM visits. Apply flat rate prices to any quote with one click. Update a rate once and every flat rate assembly that uses it updates automatically.

Comparing to Alternatives

How is ScopeTakeoff different from STACK CT?+
STACK CT is a GC-focused estimating platform starting at $499/month with a required sales call. ScopeTakeoff is $100/person/month with self-serve signup and is purpose-built for subcontractors. The key difference: STACK has generic assemblies — you build your trade-specific pricing from scratch. ScopeTakeoff has pre-built assembly libraries for 10+ trades with automatic calculations per trade (CY, board count, tonnage, coverage). STACK also lacks SOV output formatted for how subs submit to GCs. If you’re a GC managing multiple trades, STACK is worth evaluating. If you’re a subcontractor, ScopeTakeoff was built specifically for you.
How is ScopeTakeoff different from Procore?+
Procore is an enterprise construction management platform for GCs starting at $600+/month with a required implementation process. Its estimating module is an add-on to a project management platform most subcontractors will never use. ScopeTakeoff is $100/person/month, self-serve, and estimating-first — not a GC project management tool. If you’re a subcontractor, there’s no rational case for Procore.
How is ScopeTakeoff different from Buildertrend?+
Buildertrend is designed for residential general contractors managing full project lifecycles — scheduling, client communication, document management, and estimating. At $499–$799/month, the estimating module is secondary to the project management features. It has no SOV output for commercial GC submission and no PDF plan takeoff. ScopeTakeoff is estimating-first, built for subcontractors, at $100/person/month. If you’re a residential GC managing full projects, Buildertrend makes sense. If you’re a sub who needs to estimate and bid, ScopeTakeoff is the better tool at a fraction of the price.
Why not just use Excel?+
Excel works for low-volume estimating — 2 to 3 jobs a month with simple scopes. The problems start at scale. Every estimate starts from scratch. There are no pre-built assembly libraries, no automatic trade calculations, no SOV output formatting, and no team collaboration. CY calculations are manual formulas. Rebar tables have to be maintained separately. When material prices change, every template updates manually. For contractors bidding 5+ jobs a week, the time cost of manual Excel estimating exceeds $100/month many times over — and the error rate is higher.
How is ScopeTakeoff different from PlanSwift?+
PlanSwift is a long-standing on-screen takeoff tool with solid plan measurement capabilities. Like STACK, it has generic assemblies — significant setup is required before it’s useful for trade-specific estimating. It’s also a desktop application (not web-based), lacks SOV output for GC submission, and has increased in price significantly in recent years ($179–$499/month). ScopeTakeoff is web-based, self-serve, and has pre-built trade assemblies from day one.
Is ScopeTakeoff worth it if I’m already using STACK?+
If you’re a subcontractor using STACK, you’re paying $499–$699/month for a platform built for GCs and spending significant time building and maintaining assemblies that ScopeTakeoff has pre-built. The switch saves $400–$600/month and eliminates assembly maintenance. Most contractors who switch from STACK report their first ScopeTakeoff estimate takes less time than a comparable STACK estimate because the trade-specific assemblies are already there. The 14-day free trial lets you test that comparison directly.
